Abstract:
Management of research data is a growing burden for shared facilities. Large volumes of research data generated by increasingly powerful instruments need to be organized, documented, stored, shared, and preserved. Multiple policies for managing research data need to be followed, such as data management plans mandated by funding agencies, institutional data management guidelines and policies, and governmental standards for regulated research data. Our panel will address questions such as what is the role of shared facilities in the research data lifecycle and stewardship? What are some best practices, examples, and technologies that shared facilities can apply to managing the data they produce for their users?
