September 2011 User of the Month: Sarah Kenny
September 01, 2011 | Paul Dave
For the September User of the Month, I’m happy to announce that we have selected Sarah Kenny from the University of California, Irvine.
Who she is: Sarah is a neuroscience researcher at the University of California at Irvine neurology department. She has been using Globus Online to move research data (see below for details).
Why we picked her:
Sarah is a top 10 user in terms of total bytes moved, and she holds the heavyweight title for biggest single transfer: she once moved 5.6 TB spread across 12 million files, a record number of files for a single transfer job! Sarah has transferred a total of over 25TB of data in more than 32 million files. She also once used GO to sync a directoy of around 2 million files. Sarah is definitely helping us test our scalability claims!
Sarah is also a beta user of the new Globus Connect Multi-User feature, which allows resources owners to much more easily create a shared endpoint on a cluster or other resource, than was possible before (no GridFTP install required!!). She has worked with the Globus Online team as an early adopter, providing excellent feedback on her experience and suggested extensions of the offering.
Congratulations Sarah!
