The new Globus CLI is available in a beta release
December 01, 2016 | Vas Vasiliadis
Several users have requested a native command line client to Globus services that can be installed on a local machine and used for simple scripting. We have just released a beta version of a new command line client that you can download and use with the Globus file transfer and sharing service. This is a native Python client application, and is available to all users. Documentation for this beta release is available in our Github repo. We invite you to try the new client and send any questions and feedback to support@globus.org.
Please note this release is a beta version and subject to change without notice. We expect to make changes that may break compatibility with prior versions, so please do not rely on this beta release in a production environment. This CLI client will eventually replace the hosted (restricted shell) CLI that is currently in production - we will provide notice about plans to deprecate the current CLI at a later stage, although we will continue to support both versions for some period of time.
The CLI source code is also available and provides good examples of working with the Globus platform APIs. We look forward to your comments and feedback.
