Deprecation of Hosted CLI
May 02, 2018 | Rachana Ananthakrishnan
As we announced last week at GlobusWorld, the hosted CLI (legacy CLI) is currently deprecated and support for it will be discontinued on August 1, 2018. The hosted CLI has been replaced by the native CLI application (https://docs.globus.org/cli/) which has been available in production since April 2017.
The CLI application provides a rich and robust client capability for users, both for interactive use and simple scripting. The new CLI is well documented (see links below), and since its production release over a year ago we have seen significant uptake of this new CLI application in place of the hosted CLI.
Prior to August 1, users should download and install the CLI application if they wish to access Globus services via the command line. Reference documentation for the CLI application is available at https://docs.globus.org/cli/reference/. There is also a quick start guide (https://docs.globus.org/cli/quickstart/) and examples of using the CLI application (https://docs.globus.org/cli/examples/).
If you need any help transitioning to the new CLI application, or have questions regarding deprecation of the hosted CLI, please contact support@globus.org.
